Whiskey Whisper

Why this name for our podcast?

Legacy is for everyone

What is legacy? It is not something reserved for only the most wealthy or powerful. It is something that everyone is capable of building. We are all in pursuit of a higher purpose. That pursuit becomes our legacy. As individuals it is important that we create purpose and meaning in our lives, but that does not mean that we are alone in our journey. It is important to remember that building a legacy is not only about the individual because even as individuals, all on our own journeys to fulfillment, we do not exist in a vacuum. We are connected to each other through an intricate system of relations. The smallest unit of that system is the family. Legacy is a way to provide stepping-stones for that family unit. To support oneself and one’s dependents. If we are each to build our legacies, we must think critically of what we are leaving behind and how our current actions will impact our family legacy.

Women’s role in building family legacy

Women hold a special place in the family. As the backbone of the family unit, we are the caretakers that hold the family together, so the legacy we leave behind is central to the overall family legacy. To construct an enduring family legacy, we must think of the components that help society endure. The key component in which everything revolves is access to financial resources. Our access to money is the core of our freedom. Therefore, financial independence is a basic human right. Thus, with women seen as equal partners, we explore the “secrets” of building our family legacies through financial independence.

Wealth management

The best way to cultivate a family legacy is by building lasting wealth. The basis for a healthy life is our ability to take care of ourselves and others. Access to financial resources gives us that ability and provides us the freedom to live fulfilling lives. Building wealth is a skill that everyone should be equipped with to bring about the success and comfort of those they care about. Although our focus is on women, it is not only women who could benefit from learning how to manage their wealth. It is a shared responsibility, in which everyone within the family unit should take part. When we prepare for the next generation, we are not only building wealth for arbitrary or frivolous reasons but providing future generations with a sense of community. We are saying that the next generation is not alone. That they are supported in their endeavors, so they can continue to find success without unnecessary hardship. This is not an individualistic undertaking. We do not aim to horde wealth for oneself alone, but to encourage freedom and stability for the entire family. With the skill of wealth management, we can ensure that those who need help are taken care of and the tradition of caring for one another can continue.

Whiskey!

So, what about whiskey? When most of us think of whiskey we think of men gathering around a lit fireplace, smoking cigars, and conversing with one another. A situation that brings to mind community and the ability to openly discuss advice on life away from the stress of the typical day. Whiskey Whisper wants to mimic that experience, an experience of camaraderie, while we share how best to provide ourselves and the ones we love with the greatest chance of future success.

And there you have it! The (not so) secret of our name, Whiskey Whisper. Where our empowerment and accountability to others, wealth management, and good whiskey all come together.

Double shot of whiskey!! Our host, Sonia Dhillon, originated from Patiala, Punjab, which is known for the Patiala peg. The Patiala peg is a shot of whiskey that is determined by the distance between the top of your index finger to the bottom of your pinky. A double shot of whiskey! With this in mind, the whiskey in our podcast represents not only a sense of community but is also a nod to our hosts origins and the people of Punjab, who are known for their strength and fearlessness (as you can see in their choice of drink ;).
